Where we came from
Shining Light Homes was established in October 2012 and has been a life-long vision of Patti Johnson. From her experiences of raising a child, single, and at a very young age, she felt God place a passion to help others overcome the difficulties young single mothers face. God gave her the passion and gifts to help them, not only overcome, but to be an over-achiever and have success in life.
Where we are
Now, 40 years later, her dream and vision is now a reality. The mission of SLH is to give young mothers an alternative to abortion and giving up, place them in a home, teach them, place them in their own home, and partner with them for life.
We are now in full operation and fullfilling this desire God placed in Patti's heart.

Our Vision is to have offices and homes across the country. We want to partner with like-minded people with the same passion and desire to put homes in cities across the nation and become advocates for single mothers. Would you like to help? Calling all Community advocates, Veterans, Active Duty Military(transitioning Vets). We are coming together to help support the ending of Veteran homelessness and reducing the number of Veteran suicides by help all homeless individuals and families, then if its a Veteran we help to expedite the resources needed to get into housing.
Our homeless, suicidal and hurting Veterans need your help and support in many ways and the only way to help them is to support the community and system that is trying to support them.
Help us volunteer at local homeless agencies to support outreach workers, social workers and case managers in there efforts to end homelessness and especially Veteran homelessness.
Chesapeake Homeless Parking Lot Ministry
Providing breakfast, snacks, toiletries, resources and motivation to live another day to our Car Bound Homeless Angels. Usually there are 20 to 25 people sleeping in there cars throughout the week in this parking lot. Over the past 4yrs several churches and organizations have been providing them with breakfast sandwiches, snacks, toiletries, community resources, devotionals, gas cards and prayers.
This is your opportunity to help make a difference in their lives. If you are able bring any of the above or below items that we put in the blessing bags.

The Virginia Beach Justice Initiative was birthed out of a desire to end human trafficking, particularly sex trafficking, in the Hampton Roads area.
We are seeking to initiate change by building a coalition of like-minded individuals and organizations that work together to (1) prevent the victimization of individuals and (2) create a comprehensive region-wide program to identify and then assist victims from the time of rescue through recovery and reintegration.
Our mission is to bring an end to sex trafficking by empowering the residents of Hampton Roads' cities and the surrounding region through education, awareness, advocacy and prevention campaigns. We partner with other organizations that are involved in the work of eradicating sex trafficking and bringing restoration to former victims.
